Airlie Beach

Airlie Beach is at the heart of the Whitsundays mainland and the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. It’s a vibrant coastal nook where everyone feels like they’re on holidays 24-7.

Things to do in Airlie Beach

Feel the sand between your toes at Cannonvale, Shingley, Airlie or Boathaven Beaches or meander along the Bicentennial Boardwalks. You can step it up with hiking or mountain biking in Conway National Park, including the Conway Circuit.

Try stand-up-paddleboarding or pick up the pace and hop on board a jet-ski tour. Back on land, jump on a Segway or bike and ride along the water front.

Looking to get wet? Board a day trip, overnight cruise or private charter to the Whitsunday Islands from Abell Point Marina, the Port of Airlie or Shute Harbour. And, within minutes you’ll be snorkelling and diving on the Great Barrier Reef.

Prefer to stay on the mainland? Hire a car and explore inland to discover the flowing waters of Cedar Creek Falls.

Where to stay

From backpacker and budget hostels to luxury five-star resorts, you’ll be able to find the right place to call home during your stay in Airlie Beach. Show me more accommodation options.

How to get there

Proserpine Airport

Fly with major commercial airlines like Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Tiger Air to Proserpine Airport, just a 10-minute drive from the township of Proserpine and a 30-minute drive from Airlie Beach.

Proserpine Airport receives direct flights from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. So, getting to Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays Coast couldn’t be any easier.

Drive from Cairns

Prefer a road trip? Drive south from Cairns and through Townsville and smaller coastal towns. It’s a 7.5-hour drive, but the coastal scenery is absolutely stunning along the Pacific Coast way.
